“Fashion is always my passion. As a child I used to watch my Dad dress up for work, wearing his tailored white crisp shirt tucked in. My Mum would be in colourful chiffon saris and creative prints inspired by Fijian culture. Inspired by the glorious opulent fabric in Singapore and local designers in Australia, I decided to take up a fashion design course. I studied Fashion Design at Melbourne School of Fashion and thereafter, ventured out into the world of Fashion.”

Who is Jo Kilda

Jo Kilda is founded by Jyoti, who is known as Jo to her loved ones. She has been fortunate to live in different countries and experience a variety of cultures. Started from her humble roots in Fiji, her first stop was Singapore, a modern metropolis where she had her beautiful daughter Maliha. The next adventure was London, the fashion capital that is steeped in history where the walks along Oxford and Bond Street ignited the fashion flame. Her husband’s career took them back to Singapore which allowed her to pursue a business degree. Her son Rajveer arrived shortly after and life became a juggle of two kids and an event career. In 2011, the travel juggernaut took them to Melbourne where the flame of fashion was stoked again between the lanes of designer boutiques. As her husband and children settled in work and school life, she knew the time has come to pursue her dream.

As Diane Von Furstenburg said, “I didn’t know what I wanted but I always knew what kind of woman I wanted to be!”
